Maxwell Filipiak is a New York City–based jazz drummer and percussionist with a background in classical percussion and jazz drumset. He holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies from the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase College and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Buffalo State College.
An active performer in NYC, Maxwell works across concerts, private events, weddings, galas, and professional recording sessions, collaborating with artists, producers, and engineers in recording studios throughout the city. He has also performed for venues and local businesses across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, bringing consistency, strong time, and stylistic flexibility to both live and studio environments.
Maxwell has studied with renowned artists including John Faddis, Ralph Lalama, Peter Malinverni, Ugonna Okegwo, Kenny Washington, Matthew Wilson, Mark Guiliana, Ash Soan, and Robert “Sput” Searight. He also studied classical percussion and timpani with Matthew Bassett of the Buffalo Philharmonic and Dr. John Bacon Jr.
